Somali Bristol and Cardiff Tournament – 25th January 2026

The UK Somali Community Tournament in Bristol on 25 January 2026 delivered both excitement on the pitch and strong community spirit off it, as Cardiff and Bristol Somali teams played out a competitive 2–2 draw.

From the first whistle, the match showcased energy, skill, and determination from both sides. Cardiff demonstrated resilience and tactical discipline, while Bristol responded with pace and creativity, ensuring a balanced and entertaining contest. The final scoreline reflected the spirit of the game—competitive, yet respectful.

Beyond the result, the event stood out as a powerful example of community engagement. It brought together a large number of young people, creating a positive environment focused on teamwork, inclusion, and wellbeing. Importantly, the presence of representatives from Avon and Somerset Police highlighted strong partnership working, reinforcing trust and support between public services and the Somali community.

Events like this go beyond sport—they build bridges, strengthen relationships, and provide young people with opportunities to connect, stay active, and feel part of something bigger. A well-played match and a successful day for community cohesion.

The Advocacy and Capacity Development Association (ACDA) is extremely pleased to have played a role in this joint youth and community gathering between the Bristol and Cardiff Somali communities. Through its engagement, including coordination support in Bristol, ACDA aims to further develop such cross-community cultural and exchange initiatives, creating lasting impact, stronger partnerships, and sustained cooperation between communities.
